We talk a lot about the metaphysical properties of crystals around here, but today we would like to touch on some of the physical properties! While this is by no means an exhaustive list, it is helpful and we hope it encourages you to do further research into your own favorite stones!
The Mohs Hardness scale ranges from 1-10 that tests the hardness of certain minerals by testing the resistance of them. Any crystal that is a 5 or below on the Mohs harness scale should not be put in water. These crystals dissolve or can crack if left in water for a long amount of time and other crystals that may contain minerals that can rust or release toxins in water.
Crystal Tip: If the scientific name of the crystal ends in "-ite" it is generally NOT water safe.
