Meditation: The Basics, The Benefits, and Using Crystals

Obtaining A Spiritual Awakening And Oneness Through Meditation and Using Crystals in Your Practice

Aside from the calming effect that meditation can bring, it is often said to be a path to awaken the spirit and start the journey towards spiritual awakening. There are many different schools of thought about meditation, and just as many different techniques. For instance, some meditative techniques which focus on a field or a background perception, while there are others which focus on a specific object, and still others that try to skip the baby steps by focusing directly on the intangible.

Meditation is a fantastic tool for calming the mind and relaxing the body. Tension, stress, and anxiety can all be somewhat relieved by learning and executing a few simple techniques. Aside from the inner peace that meditation brings, it can also improve the body's general health! It is also a great way of improving your concentration. The documented health benefits of meditation include better circulation, deeper levels of relaxation, increase in exercise tolerance among heart patients, regularizing blood pressure, reduction of anxiety attacks and muscle tension, relieving arthritis pain and among many other things.

With meditation, you get to listen to the inner self and separate from the pressures of daily life. Understanding the inner self leads to understanding of the higher self. This increases our knowledge and understanding of how the higher self unites with the universe. In meditation, you get the chance to tap in and see your life and problems from a different perspective. Getting in touch with the inner self will provide guidance towards happiness and fulfillment.

There are religions which advocate the use of meditation to reach enlightenment. As mentioned, there are different schools of thoughts and focus that each religion adapts. But the method or the technique used is not as important as the underlying concept behind meditation. Meditation is about listening to the inner self and controlling your attention and focusing. There are so many distractions that it is very hard for some to focus their attention on what is important and keep their attention on fixed objects. When focused on a fixed object or field, oneness could be experienced and could take a person to a completely different state. This oneness is not easy to achieve though. There are some who would need to meditate for years to achieve it.

When oneness is achieved, the person will experience bliss. Bliss is referred to as a natural state of the soul which cannot be experienced easily in daily life. During this meditative state, the mind expands its consciousness and understanding of nature and the universe. Destructive thinking and behavior brought about by the materialistic and fast-paced world can be let go and released. A deeper understanding and knowledge will be felt and the body will be in one with the universe. Some say meditative practice can link us to the Divine. Attaining this oneness could be compared to a spiritual awakening, where the body and the mind can fully understand what cannot be seen or touched in the material world.

Now that we have discussed the basic ideas of meditation, we would like to suggest a few crystals that are thought to enhance meditation practice!

There are hundreds of different kinds of crystals, and each type is thought to vibrate upon it’s own frequency and possess it’s own various metaphysical properties. Adding crystals to your meditation practice doesn’t make it more difficult or complicated, but may truly help you reach your practice goals, whether they be relaxation or manifestation based.

This brings us to our next point; setting a goal for your meditation. It’s generally helpful to set goals for your practice, and when you choose to add crystals, it’s import to choose crystals that align with your meditation goals.

The first step is always to cleanse and charge your crystals, especially when newly purchased. This is easy to do, and there are many different methods. Two simple examples are smudging with sage, and charging the crystals under the light of the moon. Once your crystals are charged and cleansed, you may begin using them in your practice.

To begin using your crystals, simply sit in your usual meditation position, in your usual meditation space, only this time, you will place your crystal or crystals wherever your intuition tells you. One common method is to hold the crystal in the left hand, as this is the receiving hand. Using this hand means that you’re receptive to the energies of the crystal and open to receive the benefits during your meditation. You may also choose to lay down and place your meditation crystal on its resonating chakra point.

Begin your meditation as you normally would with an intention in mind, but direct your focus towards your crystal. Notice how it feels on your skin and try to pick up on it’s energetic vibration. Continue to focus on the crystal while keeping your intentions and goals in mind. If your mind begins to wander, just recenter yourself and your attention on your intention and your crystal. There is truly no right or wrong way to do this, and these instructions are merely suggestions to help you find what works for you.

When choosing crystals to add to your meditation practice, it’s wonderful to use your intuition. If a certain crystal is calling out to you, that crystal is likely the one that will help you the most. For instance, if you feel called by Unakite, you may be seeking more balance in your life. Even if you don’t know the metaphysical properties of the crystal you are drawn to initially, you’re likely to understand why you were drawn to that crystal when you learn them. If you don’t find yourself intuitively drawn to a stone, crystals are still very helpful within meditation practices! Focus on your intentions, and find the crystal or crystals that support those intentions. Whether you are seeking more love in your life, more patience, or more confidence, there is a crystal for that!
