The last Eclipse Season of 2022: Endings and Beginnings

This New Moon Solar Eclipse kicks off the final Eclipse Season of 2022, with it’s book end being the Total Lunar Blood Moon Eclipse on November 8. While Eclipse season is known for it’s intense energies, this Partial Solar Eclipse is gently easing us in, while the upcoming Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse may feel much more drastic

Today is the peak of October’s New Moon Solar Eclipse in Scorpio. While this partial eclipse will not be fully visible anywhere on Earth, it’s astrological effects may be felt as much as a month before and after, and will be most strongly felt in Europe, the Middle East, Western Asia, and Northern Africa. While a solar eclipse should not be viewed with the naked eye, the best chance of catching a glimpse will be in some of these areas, particularly from the North-East of Europe, Ukraine, Russia, and the Middle East.

Solar Eclipses always fall on New Moons, and this celestial event is known for being a gateway to new beginnings. Now may be the time to plant the seeds that will grow into the future you wish. It is important to remember that all endings are also beginnings, as this particular eclipse is strongly connected to the Lunar South Node. The Lunar South Node represents the past, emotional attachments, and things in which we are already familiar. This is in opposition to the Lunar North Node, which, in short, represents the unknown, unfamiliar, and unexplored. This eclipse gives us an ‘easy out;’ An opportunity to completely release something that has been holding us back, perhaps so easily that we don’t even realize it’s gone for quite some time. With the release of that which no longer serves us, we make space for and invite those things that we need to move forward.

Due to this eclipse falling within Scorpio season, these themes are intensified, as Scorpio is thought to represent the cycle of death,rebirth, and transformation. The Sun, the Moon, and the South Node are in the sign of Scorpio, conjunct Venus which intensifies the influence of Venus at this time. Due to this influence, we may find it easier to give and receive love, but we may also re-examine the work required to remain in some partnerships, and choose to release them. We are likely to notice that issues of intimacy, trust, and vulnerability become a focus. It is important to notice our triggers during this Eclipse Season, especially when they cause feelings of abandonment and distrust. Be mindful not to let these triggers cause you to wallow within helplessness, while also not allowing yourself to become unreasonably controlling.

The Scorpio New Moon in conjunction with Venus may also influence us to become more in touch with our feminine energy, leading to heightened feelings of compassion, creativity, and desires to both be beautiful and create beauty. You may also feel a need to be a part of, or more involved with a community, and it is important to lean into those feelings.

We will continue moving through this Eclipse portal until it culminates in the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse, where we may see closure on issues that first arose during the last eclipse season in the Spring. Because of the potency of the Blood Moon Eclipse, we are likely already feeling the pull towards the tying of loose ends and the light of New Beginnings. When this season is looked back on in retrospective, it will very clearly define both an ending and beginning.
